Shelter Rental Information

Rules & Regulations for Wauseon Parks Shelter House Reservations effective 1/1/2024:

1. All reservations will be taken at the Municipal Building Office on a first come, first serve basis. You must have a Wauseon School District address to rent any of the shelters in January of the current calendar year. Beginning in February, non-residents are allowed to reserve shelters.
2. Person(s) renting a Wauseon Shelter House will be no less than 21 years of age.
3. All Wauseon Parks & Shelters are nonsmoking. Smoking is permitted in parking lots only.
4. Alcoholic beverages are not permitted in Wauseon Parks or Shelters. No exceptions.
5. No animals are permitted in Wauseon Shelter Houses.
6. No open flames are permitted in Wauseon Shelter Houses.
7. Reservations must be accompanied by a usage fee and refundable security deposit.
Reighard Park Shelters: $60.00 (plus $40.00 security deposit) for Residents
Reighard Park Shelters: $85.00 (plus $65.00 security deposit) for Non-Residents
Rotary Park or Homecoming Shelter: $200.00 (plus $150.00 security deposit) for Residents
Rotary Park or Homecoming Shelter: $225.00 (plus $175.00 security deposit) for Non-Residents
*Wauseon Residents must be current with the income tax department and water/sewer bill to be eligible to reserve any shelter house*
8. Reighard Park Shelter fees can be reduced by ½ price to the following organizations:
Non-Profit Organizations (proof of non-profit status required) & Churches with a Wauseon address.
(Rotary & Homecoming Shelters will not be reduced)
Wauseon School functions will pay a refundable security deposit but not be charged a usage fee.
9. Reservation hours are 10 AM to Midnight. All rentals are for full days only. NO EARLY ENTRY.
10. For a refund on the rental fee, you must cancel 30 days in advance of the reservation date.
11. An additional fee will be charged to you if the shelter is left unclean or if damage is done to the shelter or its contents. Please follow all cleaning procedures posted in the shelter. Any shelter damage or cleaning charges will come out of the security deposit. If the shelter and its contents are in satisfactory condition after inspection, the entire deposit will be refunded. If cleaning or damage charges apply, the Public Works Dept. reserves the right to determine what amount of the security deposit to withhold.
12. The shelter will be unlocked by 10 AM for your reservation. If for some reason the shelter is locked upon your arrival, contact the Wauseon Police Department at 419-335-3821 and they will contact the proper personnel to open the facility for you. Person(s) renting the shelter will not be issued a key to shelters for entry. Locking the shelter after use is the responsibility of the renter.
13. Applicant hereby agrees to be responsible for repairing any damage caused to the park; shelter licensed herein during the applicant’s use of the park and shelter, including damage to equipment, furnishings, the building, and landscaping which may be related to the proposed activity at the chosen park and shelter. Applicant will follow cleaning procedures posted at contracted shelter. Applicant agrees to hold harmless the City of Wauseon, including its officers, agents and employees from any and all liability for injuries or losses to persons or property that may result from any act or omission to act on the part of said individual or organization, or the acts of its employees or agents or anyone visiting the park and shelter, or using any of the equipment, furnishings, and buildings licensed herein, upon the invitation of said applicant, negligent or otherwise.
